Talk to Kümmelkohl - Kunstprojekt an der Wurster Nordseeküste
Die Künstlerin Gunhild Kreuzer und die Kuratorin Carola Rümper inszenieren vom 7.-17.Mai 2023 öffentliche und private Gespräche zu der Wildpflanze Kümmelkohl.
Diese performativen Interventionen laden zur diskursiven Auseinandersetzung mit dem Thema Identität im ländlichen Raum ein. An der Wildpflanze Kümmelkohl wird die Frage nach Heimat und Identität festgemacht.
Kümmelkohl als regionale Spezialität verschwindet seit mehreren Jahren immer weiter – die Pflanze ist kaum noch auffindbar. Die Gebiete seines Bestandes geraten immer weiter in Vergessenheit, das Wissen darum wird nicht mehr von Generation zu Generation weitergegeben.
Während der Durchführung des Projektes Talk to Kümmelkohl werden in partizipativen Beteiligungsverfahren Interessierte eingeladen sich mit der Künstlerin Gunhild Kreuzer und der Kuratorin Carola Rümper in Interaktion und Kommunikation zu begeben.
Als mobiler Treffpunkt fungiert ein angemietetes Wohnmobil, das an mehreren Standorten an der Wurster Nordsee, wie etwa in Wremen, Dorum, Cappel, anzutreffen ist.
Bei einem Deichspaziergang sind Interessierte eingeladen die beiden Initiatorinnen in Plätze einzuweisen, an denen Kümmelkohl wächst.
Das Projekt wird ermöglicht durch das Programm Neustart KulturPlus durchgeführt durch den Kunstfond Bonn

Talk to Kümmelkohl - art project at the Wurster North Sea shore. The artist Gunhild Kreuzer and the curator Carola Rümper stage public and private conversations on the wild plant caraway cabbage from May 7-17, 2023.
These performative interventions invite discursive engagement with the theme of identity in rural areas. The question of home and identity is pinned down on the wild plant caraway cabbage.
Caraway cabbage as a regional specialty has been disappearing for several years - the plant can hardly be found anymore. The areas of its existence are more and more forgotten. The knowledge about this wild plant is no longer passed on from generation to generation.
During the implementation of the project Talk to Kümmelkohl, interested people are invited to interact and communicate with the artist Gunhild Kreuzer and the curator Carola Rümper in participatory processes.
A rented mobile home acts as a mobile meeting point, which can be found at several locations on the Wurster North Sea, such as in Wremen, Dorum, and Cappel.
During a walk along the dike, interested parties are invited to introduce the two initiators to places where caraway kale grows.
The project is made possible by the program Neustart KulturPlus carried out by the Kunstfond Bonn.
